Once or twice a year I go on retreat down to St Mary’s Abbey in West Malling. A contemplative order of Benedictine nuns live, work and pray there and part of their Rule is to offer hospitality to others seeking a space for peace and silence. The main chapel has a Guest Chapel to one side of it and there are also a small number of guest rooms in the Abbey Garth.
Thought for the day: Silence is a friendlier commodity than you might imagine; it’s like de-cluttering a room and making space for something fresh and new
